How to Verify a HYROX Coach: Certification, Affiliation, and the Official Directory

You can verify a HYROX coach in about ten seconds, and almost nobody does. HYROX publishes a public directory of certified coaches. If your coach is genuinely certified and affiliated, they are in it. If they are not, that is worth a conversation before you pay for a programme.
This is not about accusing anyone. Most coaches in India are honest people doing good work. But the HYROX name carries weight, the terms are easy to blur, and three different things get used interchangeably when they mean very different things. Understanding the difference protects your money and your race.
And the third: listing. A public profile on the official HYROX Coaches Directory. This is the one you can check yourself, in seconds, for free.
The HYROX Academy Course Tiers
HYROX runs its coach education through the HYROX365 Academy. There are three courses, and they are not interchangeable.

These are education tiers. Each teaches something real. None of them, on its own, grants the right to advertise commercially under the HYROX name. That is a separate matter, and it is the next section.
Why Education Is Not Permission
This is the point almost everyone misses, and it is the reason this article exists.
Completing a HYROX Academy course teaches you the sport. It does not, by itself, grant the right to market yourself using the HYROX brand, to advertise HYROX training commercially, or to appear on the official directory. Those rights come from a separate affiliation agreement, which is a paid, contractual licence with a fixed term.
HYROX publishes this distinction plainly. Their own FAQ carries questions such as "Does completing HYROX education automatically give me marketing rights?" and "I completed only the Foundation Course and Level 1. What does that allow me to do?" Those questions exist because the answer is no, and because it is a genuinely common misunderstanding.
How to Verify a Coach in Ten Seconds
You do not need to take anyone's word for anything. HYROX maintains a public, searchable directory of coaches at coaches.hyrox.com. It runs on HYROX's own domain, and every coach listed there is Level 1 certified through the HYROX Academy.
Look them up by name
Go to the official coaches directory and search for your coach's full name. Filter by region if it helps. A genuine, affiliated, certified coach has a profile there with their location, coaching types, languages, and contact details.
Request the actual document
A HYROX Academy certificate names the coach, the specific course completed, the location and date of completion, and carries the signatures of the HYROX founders. Any coach who has one will be happy to show it. Check the name on it matches the person you are speaking to.
Certification, or certification plus affiliation?
Simply ask: "Are you HYROX affiliated, or Academy certified?" It is a fair, non-hostile question. An affiliated coach can point you to their directory listing. A certified but unaffiliated coach should say so honestly, and there is nothing wrong with that answer. What matters is that the answer is accurate.
What a Real HYROX Certificate Looks Like
Most athletes have never seen one, which makes it hard to know what you are looking at when a coach shows you an image on their phone. Below are my own two HYROX certificates, watermarked, as reference specimens.
Read that word again, because it is the point of this whole article. These images prove nothing. Any picture can be edited. I am showing them so you know what the real documents contain, not as evidence of anything. The evidence is the directory listing.

Notice that the two documents look nothing alike. The Foundation certificate is white, signed by both founders as Managing Directors. The Level 1 certificate is black, signed by the same two men as Founder and CEO and Founder and CMO, and it carries the NSCA and CIMSPA accreditation marks that the Foundation certificate does not. Different courses, different documents. A coach who shows you one is not showing you the other.
- The exact course name. Real certificates name the specific course, for example "HYROX Academy Level One, Creating Athletes" or "HYROX365 Foundation Course, HYROX Ready". Vague wording such as "HYROX Certified" is not how HYROX words its own documents.
- The completion date. And, on Level 1, the location. Mine reads Hamburg, 21.06.2026.
- Both founders' signatures. Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste.
- The accreditation marks. The Level 1 certificate carries NSCA and CIMSPA Education Partner marks, alongside HYROX365.
- The name. Obvious, but check it matches the person in front of you.
Five Questions Worth Asking Any HYROX Coach
- Have you raced HYROX yourself? Ask for their HYRESULT link. Race results are public and independently verifiable. Coaching the stations from a video is not the same as having done them at 170 bpm.
- What are your coaching qualifications outside HYROX? Ask for the specific certification and the body that issued it, then check whether it can be verified by certificate number or a public registry.
- How will you programme my running? Running is the largest single discipline in the race. A coach who talks only about sleds and wall balls has not understood the sport.
- What happens if I get injured? A good coach has an answer. A great one has a referral network.
- Can I speak to an athlete you have coached? References are normal in every other professional field. They should be normal here too.
What Certification Does and Does Not Tell You
A certificate is a floor, not a ceiling. It tells you a coach has studied the sport formally and met a standard. That is genuinely useful, and it filters out people who have simply watched some videos.
It does not tell you whether they are a good coach. It does not tell you whether they will notice that your sled push is failing because of your body angle rather than your strength. It does not tell you whether they will answer your message at ten at night before your first race. Certification is evidence of knowledge. Coaching is evidence of care.
So verify the credential, then judge the coach. Both, in that order. A certified coach who never watches you move is worse than an uncertified one who does.
The Situation in India
HYROX is growing quickly here, with races in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, and the coaching market is growing alongside it. Most coaches are honest. Some use the HYROX name loosely, often without meaning any harm, simply because the distinction between education and affiliation is not widely understood.
The remedy is not suspicion. It is verification. Look the coach up, ask the questions above, and make your own judgement. It takes less than a minute, and any coach worth working with will respect you for doing it.

What else should I check besides certification?
Ask whether they have raced HYROX themselves and request their public race result link. Ask about their base coaching qualification, how they programme running, what happens if you get injured, and whether you can speak to an athlete they have coached.
